The Quality in Careers Standard

The Quality in Careers Standard with CareersInc

The Quality in Careers Standard is a national quality award given to schools, colleges, and work-based learning providers.

The award is for careers education, information, advice, and guidance (CEIAG) and is fully aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks for Good Career Advice. All schools are strongly recommended to obtain and maintain the Quality Standard for CEIAG, and the CareersInc team can help you achieve and maintain this.

What is it?

The Quality in Careers Standard is England’s dedicated national quality award. The award is given through external assessment and is accredited through the four components of CEIAG;

  1. Careers Education
  2. Careers Information
  3. Careers Advice
  4. Careers Guidance

How do you become accredited?

To be accredited to the Quality Standard for CEIAG, schools must provide sufficient evidence to demonstrate that they meet all the national accreditation criteria within their career provisions. The accreditation process is carried out by an external assessor, typically Careers Education and Guidance, professional assessors.

Once you have been accredited with the Quality Standard, it is valid for 3 years before a re-assessment needs to take place.

Quality Standard Awarded and CareersInc

At CareersInc all of our packages come with assistance in achieving the Quality Standard. Some schools will choose to complete the assessment immediately, some will hold off until they have improved the quality of CEIAG within their school first.

Currently, all the schools we work with have been accredited for the Quality Standard in CEIAG.

Our team of specialists works with schools to identify the areas that they need assistance in and provide solutions to gaps in evidence. The team not only offers guidance and assistance throughout the process, but they are also on hand to offer a bespoke, specialist consultancy report.

The specialist consultancy report includes;

  • Initial consultancy to identify areas for improvement
  • Mid-term consultancy to determine if relevant improvements have been made, if not other measures can be put in place going forward
  • Final consultancy before the assessment to ensure everything is in place for the school to be accredited the award.
