Flying HigHEr is an exciting new initiative which is part of the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP); and its aim is to increase the number of young people going into Higher Education, through colleges, universities or Apprenticeships.
Working with The Force team, based at Hull University, and CareersInc, who already provide independent careers guidance to our students, we will be delivering a range of events and activities over the summer term. These will inform and encourage all students to consider going into Higher Education including;
- Tutor group activities
- Careers advice
- Careers fairs and cafés
- Displays and resources in the academy
- Parents/carers events
In addition, there may be chance for students to take part in activities, outside the academy, to find out more about courses, student life at university and college, finance that can help them with their studies etc.
There will also be a Careers Fair/Cafés bringing universities, colleges and other providers into the academy so that students can find out about courses and information to help them make plans for their future career.
We will also be developing a Careers Hub in the academy, which will develop over the summer term, as a place students can go to meet employers, find out about courses and opportunities, talk to college and university staff and students to make sure they find out about just how high they can go.
We want our students to find out about all of the exciting opportunities that are waiting for them as they leave our academy and to let them know that all of the hard work they put in every day to exams, enrichment activities and personal development could lead them to the very exciting and successful career they deserve.
Regular updates will be given to students and parents/carers including updates on our website and via our Twitter feed @flyinghigherHE
